To all our clients and their pets
Providing after hours care to you and your animals has been one of the key factors on which Kieren and Lucy established Framlingham Vets. Unfortunately, over the last seven years recruiting good quality veterinary staff who are willing to participate in providing after hours care has become extremely difficult. This is a nationwide problem within our industry but is particularly difficult in rural settings such as Framlingham.
As a result, we are persistently understaffed, and this is putting unacceptable pressures on the existing vets (Kieren and Carolina) to keep providing this service.
Due to this ongoing recruitment pressure we have reluctantly taken the decision to outsource our after-hours emergency provision as of April 1st, 2019.
Framlingham Vets will continue to be open 7 days a week (except for Bank Holidays) providing our normal daytime services and our commitment to friendly, gold standard care for your pets. We believe our vets will be better able to maintain the excellent standards we always strive to provide if they have had a good night’s sleep and proper time off from work, which unfortunately we are currently struggling to achieve due to vet staff shortages.
We hope that our clients will very rarely have the need to use any afterhours services but if they do, will be confident in the knowledge that the dedicated provider we have put in place will have vets available who are fresh and excellently trained in emergency provision.
If, in the event of an emergency, you do need to use the afterhours service you will be automatically re-directed to Vets Now who will be able to give you advice or see you and your animals at their host practice if required. You can find all their contact details and directions to the clinic on the attached leaflet.
We trust that you, our clients, will understand why we have taken this step and that this decision has not been easy. We hope you can appreciate that working 24 hours a day for days on end is not sustainable and has a significant impact on the quality of life of our afterhours staff.

In the event of an out of hours emergency we ask that clients either call the usual number (01728) 612666 or call Vets-now directly on 01394 548484.
